The real reason was that I just wanted an hour of credit. However, now that I'm looking back on it, the tour turned out to be the absolute best part of my entire semester. The long hours in a bus were great (I love road trips and prolonged travel of any kind), the sites were gorgeous, and (most importantly) the people were amazing. We had a busload of 42 peeps, and I honestly loved everyone. We all pulled together into such an awesome group, and I made some incredible new friends and ratified some already existing acquaintances. All in all, I think SAU's Adventist Heritage Tour is an event that should be experienced by everyone.

I'm Alive!

Over the past week.5, I have been across a continent, to a wedding, making new friends, eating well, moving residences, attempting productivity, and grappling with the myseries of life. While there, I partook of a potluck feast put on by my friend's relatives and church members.

I had just finished a heaping plate of provisions, and was returning for more. As I reached for a few more scoops of luscious taco salad, a nice elderly lady started talking to me. It went something like this:

Lady: Where are you from?
Me: Kelowna.
Lady: What's your name?
Me: Tyler Quiring.
Lady: Tyler Kwyee?
Me: Quiring.
Lady: How old are you? 20? 25?
Me: Yeah, 20.
Lady: You must be married then.
Me: No, not yet.
Lady: Well you should come to the Oliver church, you'd find yourself a treasure.
Me: Yeah, who knows?

The lady then turned from me to a young woman, and had this conversation:

Old Lady: What was your name again?
Young Lady: Nina.
Old Lady: What is that short for?
Nina: (Said the name, which I forget).
Old Lady: Well that's a fitting name for such a cute girl.
Nina: Thank you, you're very sweet.
Old Lady (to both of us): Well have more food. I am envisioning a collection of 12 short films following the natural progression of the album, and using the album as the soundtrack. It would probably end up at around 45 minutes long (the length of the album), and have a loosely held yet overarching plot linking the individual films together. All I have right now is a very loose working idea, but if you would like to help in any way on one or all of the films (nudge nudge, my art and film school friends), then hit me up on Facebook or email, or comment below, and we can talk about it:

Facebook: facebook.com/quiring
Email: tdq101@gmail.com

P.S. While there, I had plenty of time to play around with it, and tried my hand at my first real time lapse. I set the camera down and let it record the sky until my tape ran out, and then sped up the footage so that 40 minutes was compressed into 20 seconds. That's the first shot in the following video, and the rest is comprised of other, shorter time lapses and miscellaneous shots off the patio of the villa where I was staying. I have since wanted to produce some small tribute to this great masterpiece of a film by using public domain footage made available by NASA. The only problem, however, was that until recently I hadn't found music that I felt could lend credence to the narrative complexities that lie within this subject matter. Enter Lymbyc Systym, one of my new favorite bands. They create masterful works of alternative instrumental art. I knew when I heard the song "Teddy" off their latest album Shutter Release that I had struck gold and simply had to make something Tyler-style out of it. I chose to link the two together because I feel that the thematic overtones support each other well, and that the two pieces work together in a uniquely complementary way. So, without further ado, here is Lymbyc Systym vs. NASA:

Favorite Eateries

I like eating food. I've been tracking all my blogs with Analytics, and I get to see how often people visit my pages, where the visits come from, and what means people use to find my stuff. The interesting thing is that about a third of my traffic comes from the Canadian town of Whistler. Granted, I really don't have much traffic to speak of, so I'm guessing it's the same person each time. I don't even think I know anyone from Whistler, or why someone from there would be so intent on what I have to share, but I am interested. Dear Whistler friend, if you should so desire, shoot me a line sometime. I believe my email is readily accessible from this page somewhere. Or, you could just hit me up with a comment. Either way, I'd like to know who you are. Whether I already know you or you are a total stranger to me, it's nice to having someone reading the things you write. And with that, I'm gone.

BTW, check out using Analytics for your sites here.

Food

I'm trying to be healthier. I bough an app for my iPod Touch that lets you track your food and water intake, weight, and exercise, and I'm using it. I'm also trying to get more sleep than I did this past school year (ha!). It's pretty ok, because I feel better when I eat good, real food at lunchtime at work, and then I have nice suppers that are made well and consist of good foods. I just need to get way more active. Good thing I have sisters that like doing fun stuff! While I was driving to work today, this one girl on a bike didn't know whether to go behind me or in front of me to cross the street, so she just waited while I turned left at my leisure. We were gone for like 4 or 5 hours, and we just rode and stuff. It was an amazingly clear day, and I felt alright for it being like my 3rd ride ever. But on the way down, there was this dude that went over the side of the road into the forest because he was coming down the mountain too fast. He was barely hurt, with a sore arm/shoulder, and his sled was only slightly damaged. Altogether, it was pretty incredible, because he had shot off the edge and then fell like 30 feet, hitting a tree at the bottom. We stopped and helped him get up the embankment, and then we had like 8 guys pulling and pushing the sled back up to the road. Then his buddies towed his sled back to the parking lot and we went on our way. Then I got a synthesizer for my iPod. Day complete.

My Three-Fold Anecdotal Life

#1. The other day, I was playing Nathan Thomas' guitar in his room. He left to go downstairs, and I was just absently strumming some chords when suddenly I heard a snap. Instantly I knew what happened: I had broken one of the strings. However, that was the least of it. When I looked down to survey the damage I had inflicted, I moved my left hand to get it out of the way. When I moved my hand the string moved with it. At first, I thought that this was merely because the string was resting on my hand. However, I had to do a double take. When I looked closely, I realized that the end of the string was actually embedded in the top knuckle of the index finger on my left hand. This really surprised me, but nonetheless I decided to take action. I grasped the string with my right hand, and ever so gently pulled bit by bit, until a length of guitar string about 1/4" long came out of my hand. It didn't hurt much, but it was definitely a strange feeling. Then I bled a little and Nathan came back and I put the guitar away.

#2. On the night of Sunday, December 13, 2009, I got together a small group of my friends (including two of my sisters) and went to this graveyard to watch what was supposed to be the best Geminid meteor shower since 1996. The only problem was that the sky was extremely overcast, so we ended up just hanging out and eating nachos and drinking cream soda in a cemetery at midnight. However, as it turns out that is what this guy has always dreamed of doing, so I fulfilled his dream in my life. Yay me.

#3. So tonight, I had to go to Publix to pick up 6 packages of Mona's Original Granola for my dad, since we don't have it back in Canada. While I was checking out, the bag boy at the cash register took off a pin on his shirt, threw it to the ground, and told his supervisor that he "wasn't going to wear it anymore." She told him "you're going to pick that up and put it back on right now." He did go and pick it up, but defiantly left it on the counter beside him instead of repinning it to his apron. They didn't say anything else to each other while I was there, but it really just struck me as a very foreign and odd concept for a subordinate to defy their superior like that. Just a random occurrence of my day.

-Tydude

My Other Blog

Hey, if you like music, and you especially like finding out about obscure, new, or just incredibly groovy music, head on over to my other blog, The Next Elvis. Examples include defining a country by an export, landmark, or event. In order to resolve this to some small degree, I am hereby publishing a small, alternative directory to some unfairly chliched nations, along with a new reason for knowing them. Feel free to add more in the comments, though. Let's begin:

1. Greenland: World's highest internet penetration rate.

2. Niger: World's highest fertility rate.

3. Rwanda: World record for women representation in Parliament at 56.25 percent of contested Parliamentary seats being filled by women, a total of 44 seats.

4. Singapore: World's most innovative nation, according to business.rediff.com

5. Qatar: World's highest GDP at PPP per capita, based on the International Monetary Fund in 2008.

6. China: World's highest account balance, at $426.1 billion in 2008.

7. UK: Acclaimed world's highest television penetration rate.

8. Iceland: World's highest reported crime rate.

9. Canada: World's longest bridge over ice-covered saltwater (Confederation Bridge).

10. And finally, The United States of America: World's highest rate of obesity.

I hope that this short list will help you to re-define your existing views of the importance of the nations of the world, as well as to formulate your own opinions on other countries. Again, feel free to comment on additional ones I may have left out (there are only 195 countries, leaving 185 for you to highlight).

The Epic Voyage

So now I'm finally going to tell you about my amazing journey down to Southern. I drove all by myself for two and a half days with no food or music, just to see if I could. It was really fun and a great experience. I went through; British Columbia, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Tennessee again. It was sweet, but I was really super glad to get to school finally. Here's a documentary I made of my trip:
The Death of a Titan

The world needs to be rid of Microsoft. Microsoft's products reflect mere minor innovations in the thought processes of old, and our advancing world needs to be able to say no to this giant when we want to, instead of having its bloated and insecure products always shoved in our faces in a proprietary fashion. In addition, there remains an intense desire in the world for free and open software that is secure and well-maintained, and sadly Microsoft does not adhere to any of these standards. However, freedom may never be found, as developers and publishers the world over merely adhere to Microsoft's reign of terror, churning out new Microsoft-dependent software year after year. This makes it nearly impossible for Microsoft's users to escape their icy grasp of death, as the tangle of a downward spiral of proprietary dependency gets tighter and tighter. The reason that we may never be free is this: Everyone is too scared. Users are too scared to use something different, because of the unfamiliarity and the fact that the software they are accustomed to is not present on other platforms. Their fears are well-founded, because application developers and publishers are scared as well. They are fearful that if they make the jump to open solutions, their fearful customers won't be able to follow them. Their fears have a fair basis as well. Lastly, open platform developers are scared as well. They are scared that, should they overreach their boundaries, they will be left with no market share and no users to support them. Thus, they continue moving forward at snail paces to ensure that they always remain safe. And yes, the fears of open platform developers are just as legitimate as those of end users and application developers and publishers. The key to breaking this chain of imprisonment is, obviously, for everyone to just stop being scared and take the plunge. I know it sounds crazy, but users, developers, and publishers need to make choices based on their true wants and intentions, not completely on a comfort and cash basis. If we all just do our best to contribute to the global cause for open systems and software, and involve ourselves in them, we may attain freedom one day. Oh, and by the way, I actually like Microsoft Office (I can stand XP too), but that is it.
Thrive on some links:
SourceForge
Ubuntu
OpenOffice
How to Kill Microsoft
Wine
It's a start: Paint.net
Getting warmer: GIMP
Mozilla
Open Video
VLC
Pidgin
AbiWord
Audacity
Ardour
HandBrake
Android
And my favorite (even though, ironically, it's only for Windows at the current time): Chrome

Oweee...

I think I blew my speakers... :(

Hotels

So, a funny story from yesterday:
Me and my dad had reserved a Montrealean hotel a few days before we left. However, when we got to the hotel, the clerk seemed to have a very hard time looking us up. He could see us in the system, but there was no reservation intact. We all stood there bewildered for awhile, until he looked at our confirmation papers. He looked concerned and told us that we had registered at a completely different hotel. However, he said that he had some rooms empty so we could change our previous reservation for one at this hotel. Unfortunately, his only rooms were smoking, and we would have to change rooms in the morning. Seeing this as the only option, we continued with the registration process until me and my dad looked at the papers one more time and realized that the hotel we had signed up for was in the town of Laval. Now, the airport we fly into is in Dorval, a suburb of Montreal. However, the company where we are conducting our training is in Laval. The initial problem had arisen when we mixed up the city names and signed up for a hotel in the town of Laval, which was familiar to us because of where our training takes place. We had stayed in the hotel at Dorval before so that's where we expected we had booked this time, which is why we were initially disappointed to have registered at the hotel in Laval. However, we were tickled to find out that the hotel we had actually made a reservation at was a mere five minutes from our daily destination. So, upon learning this, we told the clerk at the Dorval hotel that we would just go stay at Laval, and thus were able to wake up about 30 minutes later than we would have had to otherwise. Hurrah for life!
Tyler

Haroooo!

I know this probably sounds redundant/deja vu-ish, but I am in Montreal again, for another bout of training in 2020 Technologies' Catalog Tools, Catalog Creation Level 201. It's fun, peaceful, and quite eye-opening. It was really interesting to stay beyond the day or two when everyone felt they had to leave right away, because I got a new perspective. I've realized that I don't always need to hurry to go where I want to, but instead can enjoy the current stage I am in anytime. Southern is not nearly as dead in the summer as I had thought, except perhaps for the dorm, which is quite empty. But if you even just go to the lobby to hang out, there are still plenty of people around. The food options aren't nearly as good as during the year, but who eats at college anyway? I am now an ordained minister. There was open house in the boy's dorm yesterday. I have a junkload of things to practice before my cello lesson. My sister got a new camera. My other sister got a new phone. My Grandma's birthday was two days ago. I really really need to do laundry. Its about time for me to renew my license and registration. Wind woke me up last night. 2+2=5. The showers are being cleaned with chemicals right now so I can't use them. I'm going to have a cook-off in my friends' apartment tonight. I have to go make a video this afternoon for my human sexuality class. Today is one of the first days I can ever remember where both of my nostrils are generally unplugged. I had a picnic the other day. I got a data plan for like a month and am using it greatly! Now us three kids are going out to eat for once! We are super stoked and are having a great time. I just played my first soccer game and we lost 2-0. Oh well, I had a lot more fun than I thought I would. Today I went to the photo lab to develop and knocked out two prints in like 20 mins! I did a picture of a few trees overlapping in the frame. It was for the 'lines of composition' assignment. My picture shows zigzag composition. Maybe I'll post some of my best pics when the class is over. Well I'd better go chat it up with the sibs now!
Sincerely,
Tydog

My Comic

Check out my new comic that I just started. Unheard of! Well, its happening again, after the continued prompting (whining) of my somewhere between 3 and 5 subscribers/readers. Anyways, lets get to the good stuff:
1. Spring break: Starting on Thursday, we (sisters and me) are going to Rhode Island and 4 other New England states that we have never been to. Fun.
2. I am reading through the entire Bible in one year (starting in January (I have previously read through the New Testament, but extra reading doesn't hurt)).
3. Today's video: Batman Piderman
4. Today's super awesome music pic for the rest of my life: Owl City
5. And always remember, the elephant is the only animal with four knees.
Well, that's it for this time. I'll blog from time to time in the next two weeks to cover our New England trip. Plus, I beat Super Mario Galaxy on my friend's Wii! That was good, it was good. So I guess you want to know two things. First, what is up. Well, lately I have been lounging around and merely doing things. I did have to work desk this weekend, which was interesting. You always have different things happen when you're working desk. Secondly, where is the random content. Well, just sit still while I peruse for it. (I know that me looking has no bearing on how long you have to wait for it, but sit tight regardless). It seems that every time they are faced with the prospect of being covered in contacts, they would rather end their own lives than go through the ordeal. This has been happening repeatedly over the last 5 years or so, and recently, twice in as many months. no matter how many times they try though, they never get the hang of it, and I keep dragging them back to rehab, where they decide that they are grateful for another shot at life. But I'm just worried that one of these times, they will succeed when their dark intentions come creeping back. But enough about me. Actually, wait, just a bit more about me: Did you know I used to own a venus fly trap? Ok now I'm good. Oh well, at least I am finally posting now! Did you know that there is a world record for the biggest meal ever? It actually wasn't organic material, but he still ate it: an entire Cessna 150! I wonder if he had a tummy ache. You can read about it here. Well, as for me, I have just been normal this summer, eating normal people food. So yeah, I am doing some weird crazy cabinet catalog on the computer for my job, and its pretty intense. I get lost a lot. Anyways, I think I will make a bit of money for college during the rest of my summer. I think that we are gonna go out to Fairmont, our one-week-a-year time share, in a couple weeks. Then we're gonna go to campmeeting for the last weekend, which should be fun. After that, I just have to work, practice for Al's friend's wedding that we're playing for, and get packed for another year at Southern! I'll keep you posted.
Ty
P.S. Me and Bryn watched Thr3e last night. It was such one of the craziest movies I have ever seen, and I had even read the book! I highly recommend it. The second was a picture of a lighthouse under construction that I took our second day in Nova Scotia. Today, we drove extensively along the beautifully scenic Cabot trail and got a hotel shortly after leaving Cape Breton Island for good. Tomorrow we will go back to New Brunswick and hopefully Maine, as I have not been there before. We will probably cross the U.S. border in the early afternoon and spend a few minutes in one of the states I have never been to previously, so I can add another to the list. To actually see my list, add me as a friend on facebook or something. My map of places I have been is right on my main page. OK, that's all for now, folks! I hope you are all having a great time back home, and that I can see you again soon. Yesterday, we went all over Halifax and did sweet stuff there. It was cool, and I love that city and would very much like to live there, but either way, you know? Then, today, we left Halifax and our hotel early for a small trip to the Tanallon Seventh-Day Adventist Church. We had a nice worship service there, and then they invited us to a lovely potluck meal afterwards. It was quite tasty, and I ate the food. Then we left and drove for like five hours to Sydney, Nova Scotia, which is in the Northern crotch of Cape Breton Island. It is quite pretty here, and I like it lots. Well, I had a lovely Sabbath day, the scenery was great, I had awesome music, and there was plenty of lively people to spend the time with. About halfway through our trek, we stopped in Atangonish, N.S. for supper. As you can see below, I used the foil from my cherry blossom dessert as a makeshift beard to supplement my own:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_v2AnvrNLT0o/SF3FKuXo5-I/AAAAAAAAABw/139erxYglNk/s320/First+Sabbath+Pics+0612.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214540731601446882" />
Well, those were pretty much the highlights of my day, and now here are some tidbits that are sure to be the highlights of yours. Did you know that The average number of people airborne over the US any given hour is 61,000? Well, its true, and in about a week and a few days, I will be one of them yet again. Now go here: garfieldminusgarfield.net. If you haven't already gone there from my link on the left, go there now. Its a fun time. Well enjoy my pics, or else:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_v2AnvrNLT0o/SFsm_YJ5_II/AAAAAAAAABY/DS15zmm-wbk/s320/ty1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213803863869095042" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_v2AnvrNLT0o/SFsnviPTQ2I/AAAAAAAAABg/6oevmT_P8pM/s320/Tydot+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213804691209798498" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_v2AnvrNLT0o/SFsoKPnQnzI/AAAAAAAAABo/GgHGlXSGfyI/s320/Tydot+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213805150066482994" />
OK, so that was me, and me in the East. Yes, it is the place where Anne of Green Gables was invented and stuff. Umm yeah, so since I last posted, I have been to Ottawa for the whole weekend, and me and my dad flew out on Monday. We were supposed to fly out on Sunday, but there was bad weather in Toronto, so we ended up just chilling in the airplane on the ground for upwards of six hours, and didn't get off it until almost 8 hours, after we finally got to Toronto. That was fun, but I finally met up with my sisters, mom, and grandparents, and now the "we" will also include them. We all got an airport in Toronto (as they were delayed as well), and then we started our flight early in the morning from there all the way to Moncton, N.B. So then we drove to P.E.I. and had a good time here yesterday. We did a bunch of touring today, and I swam in the gulf of St. Lawrence! It was super cold, and stuff, but things are awesome, including life. Anyways, now I'm gonna sleep and we're gonna head out early tomorrow for N.S. and it probably will make me love it. OK, I will post again soon (probably tomorrow) with pics facts, and links. Have a good one,
Ty

Yeah, the trip again.

So I just read Ali's blog post and realized that she is doing a whole blog based on our tip over at ehq_travels. So yeah, if you want to know actual good details and probably see some pics, head over there. I will keep up my regular posts though, as well as a few ones about our trip. Its just that I am so bad about trip details and pictures in situations like this. So read about us, learn about us, and love us. The link will be on your left as well. We sure are getting a whole network of Quirings and their trips going here!
-Ty
Oh yeah, about me! I totally just finished my test for 20-20, and I'm not sure if I passed yet. First the pics, which will introduce the link, which will introduce the fact. So we had a great evening spending hours metro-ing, walking, and taxi-ing around Montreal. We also ate food.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_v2AnvrNLT0o/SFHhghLF3CI/AAAAAAAAABA/A1OEv4WlwwI/s320/The+Dad.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211194192621329442" /> This is a picture of my dad from the top of Mont Royal, the mountain that Montreal is named for. It was sweet. (Taken from a taxi. I know, I am just that good.)

So pretty much, it was a sweet day. But anyways, on to the fact and link. Today's fact is that I cropped, rotated, edited, and touched up all of the above pictures online at Picnik.com, which was, in turn, the link for today.

So there you have it, I really do have a life, and I also have a father. Me and my dad were less lost than we were the first day. It even began to be slightly fun. Then I came back to the hotel and relaxed. I finished my book, The Giver. It was pretty shwankin'. I would recommend it to people that can read. Then I got a call from my buddy Guian Goulet, then me and my dad stayed up 'till 1:30 booking train tickets for the rest of our trip. So that took hours and hours, figuring out prices and configurations online, cuz we are going to be travelling quite a bit by train. I think its gonna be loadsa fun. So yeah, its lunchtime here at 20-20, but training today has gone fairly well again. I figured out how to configure a complex cabinet, and now we are working on medium-complexity formulas and things. So things are going well, and I may even post again later today, because we are going to visit the city of Montreal itself for awhile tonight. I promise to provide some pictures of it, as well as some random facts or links, the next time I post.
Have a life or two,
Ty

Montreal

Hello,
No fun facts or links today, I'm sorry (half my readers leave (what, like one person?)). But anyways, I am here in Montreal for that training thingy. But first, my weekend. This past weekend on Friday at 12:00 noon, I left for UCA (the academy I graduated from) for part of the graduation ceremony. Bryn came down with me, and we had a blast. Then I drove 5 hours back on Sabbath evening to Kelowna, where my Dad and I flew out from at 7:00 am to Montreal, QC. We got to the airport several hours later, even accounting for the time change of three hours. We got a car and got to our hotel after getting lost several times, and then we went out to eat at some nice Italian restaurant. We then came back to the hotel, I read for quite awhile, and then we slept. We got up at 6:00 on the morning of Monday, June 9. We had a pretty sweet breakfast for a hotel, cuz they actually had eggs and stuff, so that was yummy and I ate hugely. Then we got ready and left for The 2020 Technologies World Headquarters for our day of training. It began pretty harshly with a blind somersault into the complex program, and got crazier from there right until the end of the day. Then we left with pounds of textbooks and went to go get food and stuff. We drove around trying to find a place to buy a GPS for awhile, then we got one and continued on to Subway. After that, my dad played with his GPS while I went to Chapters for 2 books and 3 magazines to supplement my reading fix for-hopefully-the rest of the trip. Then we came back to the hotel and now I'm typing. Good night and I love you all (all one of you, I guess),
Ty

Finally, a bit about me!

So yesterday, I received a call telling me that the glasses I had ordered were in. Well this was just in time, as my eyes were finally rebelling from the constant use I had made of contacts for the past month. They hurt pretty bad, and when I went to try my new glasses on, the lady told me I had to see the eye doctor right away. So about an hour later I went to my eye doctor and he told me I had to go see an opthamologist. Did I mention I was supposed to be working this whole time? Well, after eating lunch, I got an appointment with one of the specialists I had seen before about my Iritis (don't ask, just know it hurts like shinsplints and don't get it). So I went to the specialist, and he told me not to wear contacts for like two weeks and to use these drops. Then I went to London Drugs for my prescription. We got a bunch of stuff and then came home to finally relax. Only later, when I wanted to drive to my friend's house, did I realize that I had misplaced my wallet. So that sucked. This morning at work I tried to call London Drugs and they didn't have it, so I called the specialist's office again and the receptionist told me that she had my wallet sitting there. I was so relieved! Anyways, I had a crazy day, and I like my new glasses. Anyways, did you know that "karaoke" means "empty orchestra" in Japanese? Me neither. Also, have you ever wondered why so many people these days are obsessed with ninjas? Go here now. As well, to figure out how any bug would fare against any other bug in a fight-to-the-death, go here now. Also, darwinawards.com tells us that on the 3rd of June, 2006, two rambunctious students spotted a large helium-filled advertising balloon. Logically, they immediately saw the fun they could have with a gas-filled corporate tool, and pulled it down. Climbing inside, they began to inhale the helium, giggling in a high-pitched tone as they did. Soon enough, however, they passed out from the lack of oxygen and happily asphyxiated. At any rate, some people believe that there is actually a worst website ever, and I must say I agree, based on a design standpoint alone, let alone content. Check it here: bermuda-triangle.org Now that that is out of the way, we can return to our history. I mean, isn't that the point of a blog? Well, last week was fraught with work, and then I did sound for the OKAA graduation (the school I used to go to in Kelowna, BC). So that was eventful and yaygood. This weekend I plan to head out to Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, Washington (where I took my senior year of high school) to say hi to my buds that are graduating from there. Then I have to drive all the way back to home, and re-pack for my flight that leaves Sunday morning out of Kelowna at 7:00. I am going to Montreal where I am gonna be training for some software that I need to learn for my summer job. After that, Ali, Bryn, and my Mum are meeting me and my Dad (he is coming out to Montreal with me) to tour Canada's vast and intruiguing East coast. That is going to be taking place for the following two weeks or so, until sometime after Canada day (July 1), which we plan to spend in Ottawa, Ont. Then we're gonna leave. Just so you know, I plan to be breathing the whole time, and so should you. Check out this video:

Thanks alot, see you later.
Ty
P.S. It is one of the most powerful such programs available. At any rate, a few from blender's very supportive community have made a few short films in blender, with the aim to prove blender as a competent tool in the world of animation. The first was Elephants Dream, a very good-looking, yet highly confusing film. The second, Big Buck Bunny, which takes on a more friendly, humorous theme, was just released for download today. They are both very well made, and absolutely free, so this time, you don't have to feel bad for downloading them. Get them while they're hot (in other words anytime), at:

Elephants Dream
Big Buck Bunny

Hope you enjoy!
Ty

Summer and other things

Well, my life rocks. Since my last post over a month ago (sorry), I have bought the second half of Thrice's Alchemy Index. Seriously, it rocks simply all of the clocks. Anyways, they have also released the video for their new single "Come All You Weary" and it's full of cool shindigness. So jump on over to www.alchemyindex.com, their studio blog, to check it out! In other news, my summer is going pretty good, and I am content. I need at least small breaks every few hours or so to keep me sane. I also had to work three times today, which wasn't the most thrilling. Anyways, supposedly some guy somewhere today was trying to rob a a dry cleaning shop. The owner didn't take kindly to this idea, however, and so they gave him a steam clean. He got lots of burns and put in jail. Yay! Also, please check out www.qwantz.com . Its this hilarious random comic I found today about a couple of retarded dinosaurs.
